Free Business Cards Online – As Easy As ABC

September 30th, 2010

Business cards are regarded throughout the business field as something very important. It is used by almost every marketer across the globe to deal with any of their perspectives for one simple reason – to sell services and products for profit.

While manufacturers and designers of business cards intent the items in a sense that they make money, a few are still operating out there to give some of their business cards and some other merchandises free of charge. This is where companies like VistaPrint came in. They been established throughout the industry as one of the major producers of superior quality cards for business promotions and other similar aims. They operate, however, on the internet, providing millions of people around the world whatever they deserve in zero time flat.

These business cards are preferred and appreciated by business owners and marketers because of many solid reasons. It’s given, in the beginning, that they are offering the cards for business use with no charges imposed. Yet, to hold up their production and development, the company introduced a easy rule that permits them to yield profit in return. The tactic they employ works in some respects that extras are supplied for their purchasers to pay for. Plainly put, they provide the fundamentals and charges purchasers for the extras taken.

Although the business cards are given away free of charge, clients have the opportunity to choose precisely what they desire for a design and color of their cards. The options are pretty fixed though. The commonest selections you will be able to choose as of now depend normally on the total of fonts, the layouts, and logos you want to use. At first glimpse, you might find their business cards as something simple, but although they are that unsophisticated, you’ll be presented for more choices the minute you keep dealing with them. This is essentially where the extras come in.

Many other products are offered by companies that them, apart from business cards. Personalized cards, letter paper, ink stamps, magnets, and some identity products are given; each varies from design to design. And above all, although these items are offered, customers are permitted to have their selections provided that they register first.

Registering to the website is a really simple process. All you need to do is to provide your details like your first and last name, email address, and a set of password. The company also needs their customers to fill in the name of their company, and a password hint tab is also provided to help their clients in case they don’t remember their passwords. To finish the registration, you will need to verify your membership by checking your email account, and automatically your account will be activated. As soon as it is activated, you’ll be able to make all the business deals you desire so to get the suitable business cards.

Indeed, there are quite a few websites out there that provide free business cards to the customers. See below for more information on Free Business Cards Online.

Cost-Cutting Cal Drops Several Sports Programs, Including Baseball

September 29th, 2010
Jojo Doria – AHN Sports Contributor

Berkeley, CA, United States (AHN) – The University of California, Berkeley, in its latest move to cut costs, announced Tuesday it will drop five of its intercollegiate sports programs, including baseball, at the end of the 2011 academic year.

Citing the economy and decreased state funding, the university arrived at the difficult and painful decision that is expected to result in an annual savings of about $4 million beginning in the next fiscal year.

The athletic department of the University of California, Berkeley, has been over budget by about $10 million to $13 million for several years.

The move will affect 163 of the school’s more than 800 student-athletes, as well as 13 full-time coaches.

It also reduces the number of athletic teams from 29 to 24, including baseball, which Cal has had since 1892.

Cal’s baseball team, which won the first College World Series in 1947, has been to the NCAA baseball tournament 10 times, most recently in 2008.

The Bears last captured the NCAA baseball crown in 1957. Last season, Cal earned an NCAA regional berth.

Cal has also made five trips to the CWS, but has not won a Pac-10 title since 1980.

In addition to baseball, which according to Athletic Director Sandy Barbour had the highest net cost to the university among men’s programs, the men’s and women’s gymnastics and women’s lacrosse will also be cut.

Meanwhile, the men’s rugby team, winner of 25 national championships since 1980, will be stripped of its varsity status. It will be reclassified as a “varsity club sport,” a new category at Cal.

Cal, which has had rugby as a varsity team since 1882, is the only NCAA Division I school that has the sport rugby with that status.

Chancellor Robert Birgeneau, who wrote in a letter to the Cal community, indicating that the steady increase of financial support to the university’s 29 team athletics program was “not sustainable” for Cal, said no more teams will be cut.

Birgeneau believes that the cuts will allow the university to take a financially sustainable path by 2014.

Coca-Cola Sweetens Investment In Philippines By $1B

September 28th, 2010
Jeehan Fernandez – AHN News Writer

Manila, Philippines (AHN) – The Coca-Cola Co. renewed Tuesday its presence in the Philippines by increasing investments in the country by $1 billion over five years.

“This investment is a proof point of our strong commitment to the Philippines, confidence in the prospects of Filipino economy and continued growth of a broader and more affluent middle class in the country,” Coca-Cola Pacific Group President Glenn Jordan said in a statement.

The business enterprise expansion will strengthen production, distribution and help development of new products, he added.

The added financial commitment will further boost the ongoing construction of a bottling mega-facility in the southern province of Misamis Oriental.

“The new plant scheduled to begin operations next year will be one of the largest plants in the region and is expected to generate significant employment opportunities in the area,” Jordan said.

Coca-Cola Phils. recorded double digit growth in the first half of 2010 led by flagship brand Coca-Cola.

The company also expanded its beverages portfolio in the last six months with the launch of “Samurai” energy drink and ready-to-drink “Real Leaf” tea brewed from whole green tea leaves.

The Coca-Cola Co. operates 23 plants and 42 sales offices with over 7,800 employees across the country. The country’s bottling operation is among the 10 biggest Coca-Cola bottlers globally.

Coca-Cola has been present in the Philippines since the start of the 20th century and has been locally produced since 1912.

Rejection Of Third Runway For Heathrow Causes Airport To Be Less Competitive

September 27th, 2010
AHN News Staff

London, England, United Kingdom (AHN) – BAA Chairman Sir Nigel Rudd blamed the decision of the British government rejecting the Heathrow Airport operator’s application for a third runway for making the gateway less competitive.

Rudd said the political decision made Heathrow a second tier global airport. He pointed out the decision would translate into Heathrow’s share of international passengers decreasing, while other major gateways in Europe are expanding.

He said despite future operational improvements in Heathrow, the British gateway would remain a second tier airport.

British Airways, one of the two major airlines using Heathrow, supported BAA’s push for a third runway, which would provide very substantial benefits for the nation. BAA’s major investors, Spanish firm Ferrovial and the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, also disagreed with the British government’s decision to reject BAA’s application for a third runway.

Heathrow announced on May 24 that it will stop working on pursuing a third runway application after the coalition government’s decision and will stop buying properties in Sipson.

BAA Chief Executive Officer Colin Matthews said then in a statement, “The policy intentions of the new government are clear and it is no longer appropriate for us to purchase properties. Equally important is our intention to stand behind our commitment made to provide time for those local residents who wish to sell their properties to us to do so.”

However, Matthews added, “Heathrow plays an important role for the U.K. and supports thousands of jobs. We continue to believe that new capacity would strengthen the U.K.’s trading links with the global markets on which our economy and our competitiveness depend.”

2010 Halloween Spending Seen As More Treat, Less Trick

September 25th, 2010
Jeehan Fernandez – AHN News Writer

Washington, DC, United States (AHN) – U.S. Halloween spending is projected to bounce back from last year’s grim sales as Americans spend considerably more this time, according to the National Retail Federation.

Total holiday spending is expected to reach $5.8 billion, according to NRF’s 2010 Halloween Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey conducted by BIGresearch.

Americans will spend an average of $66.28 on costumes, candy and decorations, up from $56.31 in 2009 and comparable to $66.54 in 2008, NRF said.

With the holiday falling on a Sunday this year, people are expected to spend more because they will have an entire weekend to celebrate, noted NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay.

Though Halloween spending will be much more robust than a year ago, consumers are expected to err on the side of caution. “While spending is expected to increase, three out of 10 or 30.1 percent consumers say the state of U.S. economy will still impact their Halloween plans, with most of those respondents or 86.8 percent citing they would spend less overall,” NRF noted.

Halloween is considered second only to winter holidays in terms of decoration. The federation said 50.1 percent of consumers will decorate their home or yard.

Economic Uncertainty Boosts Gold To Record $1,301.01; Silver To 30-Year High

September 24th, 2010
Linda Young – AHN News Writer

New York, NY, United States (AHN) – Futures prices for gold hit a record high $1,301.30 per ounce in trading on Friday, while silver futures hit a 30-year high at $21.40 per ounce and the dollar fell in relation to other world currencies.

Analysts expect gold prices to remain high for the foreseeable future because of continued uncertainty in the United States and European economies.

Factors contributing to that uncertainty over the U.S. economy include high unemployment along with a weak dollar and massive federal debt.

Gold prices have reached record highs in six of the past seven trading sessions. Analysts say that investors looking for a cheaper investment alternative have now turned to silver, which drove prices up to levels last seen in 1980. Investors view gold and silver as safe investments during times of economic uncertainty.

Another factor driving up precious metal prices is the Federal Reserve’s decision to keep its benchmark interest rate down since December of 2008, along with buying U.S. Treasuries.

Bank Of England Mulls Another Round Of Fiscal Stimulus Action

September 23rd, 2010
AHN News Staff

London, England, United Kingdom (AHN) – The Bank of England is considering another round of fiscal stimulus after the pound dipped and interest rates suffered its largest drop in over 18 months on Wednesday.

Reports said the British central bank may order another round of quantitative easing – or the printing of electronic money. The move would boost money supply and improve the pound’s standing against other currencies.

Some of the nine-members of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England pushed for more stimulus action because of threats to the recovery of the British economy. The committee, in a 8-1 vote, opted to keep key lending rate at the record-low level of 0.5 percent and not to increase the bank’s $300 billion (200 billion pounds) quantitative easing program for the meantime.

On Wednesday, the business group CBI forecast that the Bank of England would hike benchmark interest rates later than previously anticipated. CBI foresaw key lending rates going up to 1.25 percent by the end of 2011.

CBI said Britain’s tentative recovery will be sustained, but with weaker levels of growth because of massive spending cuts by the coalition government.

Among CBI’s other major predictions are that inflation would remain above the Bank of England’s 2 percent target until 2011, exports would rise by 3.5 percent in 2010 and 6.4 percent in 2011 and unemployment would even grow to 2.62 million jobless Britons by end of next year.
